My Story

Hi, I'm Shelley the designer and maker behind Shelbury. I started Shelbury with a sense of purpose. I wanted to craft beautiful products that would empower women to have beautiful handbags that will last a lifetime and inspire you to explore outside and look and feel fabulous.

My passion is designing and making handbags, accessories and gifts with a twist, showcasing the fabulous talents of independent weavers from across the UK. Wool and canvas are great textiles for bag making its so durable and will stand the hustle and bustle of daily living.  

I also test patterns for other handbag and size inclusive clothing designers, its really fun to get a little sneak peak of new patterns and work through the instructions to help other people make them. I love what I do!

I am based in North Nottinghamshire and use my semi industrial Juki sewing machine.  I take inspiration from all around me - from my travels to places nearby or simply from a pretty pattern that inspires me.

My goal is to create unique, stylish pieces that will make people feel good when they wear them. And I think we can all agree that one of the best feelings is when you find something unexpected but perfect! So it's no surprise that many of my designs are inspired by vintage styles with a modern twist or old fashioned patterns with a modern twist.
